Two Class of 2005 USD School of Law Alumni Appointed San Diego County Superior Court Judges by Governor Newsom

SAN DIEGO (May 23, 2023) – Two University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumni, Marsha Bipin Amin ‘05 (JD), and Alejandro Morales ‘05 (JD), have been recently appointed new San Diego County Superior Court Judges by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Since 2018, Marsha Bipin Amin has served as a Managing Attorney at the Fourth District Court of Appeal and was a Senior Appellate Court Attorney there from 2011 to 2018 as well. Before that, Amin was an Associate at Procopio, and served as a Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California from 2005 to 2006. Amin earned a Juris Doctor degree from USD School of Law and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Laura Halgren.
Alejandro Morales served as a Deputy Alternate Public Defender at the Office of the San Diego County Alternate Public Defender. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from USD School of Law. Morales fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge James Simmons.
Amin and Morales are two of 27 Superior Court Judges along with three Court Appeal Justices to be appointed by Governor Newsom this month.
