Professor Lisa Ramsey

SAN DIEGO (March 01, 2021) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Professor Lisa Ramsey recently was a featured speaker at two events focusing on intellectual property law.

On Friday, February 12, she spoke on "Trademarks, Free Speech, and Expressive Merchandise," at the 18th Annual Works in Progress Intellectual Property (WIPIP) Colloquium, held virtually on Zoom. In that presentation, Professor Ramsey stressed that the government should do a better job protecting freedom of expression in trademark cases involving the display of words and symbols on clothing, hats and other types of products. The event was co-hosted by American University Washington College of Law, Texas A&M University School of Law and University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law.

Her second presentation, held via Webex on Wednesday, February 17, was "Trademark Registration Practice After Tam and Brunetti," at the Indianapolis S. Jay Plager Intellectual Property American Inns of Court meeting.
