Mock Trial Team Finishes Second at BLSA Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Regional Competition, Prepares for Nationals

Students competing in the Western Regional Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition

SAN DIEGO (February 3, 2021) – The University of San Diego School of Law Mock Trial Team recently placed second in the Western Regional Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition, held during the first week of January. To be eligible to compete, USD students are required to be members of both the Mock Trial Team and BLSA. With this strong regional finish, the team qualifies to appear at the upcoming National Competition in March.

Congratulations to students Hamlianne Bridgeman (2L), Chris Dugan (2L), Brandon John (3L) and Alexandria Pritchett (3L), along with their coach, Keia Atkinson, '17 (JD), for an outstanding tournament showing. Their performance was even more impressive given that the team was notified of the tournament over the holiday break, giving them barely a week to prepare. Usually, teams have six to eight weeks to review the case, so competing with only a week of preparation is a truly remarkable achievement. This was the first time USD students have competed in the BLSA Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition.
