Lowder is noted for his criminal experience with representing individuals and corporations in federal and state investigations and prosecutions, including at trial.

Lowder received his A.B. in psychology from Harvard University, where he was a member of the varsity men's basketball team. In law school, Lowder served as the Chairperson of the Appellate Moot Court Board, competed on the Appellate Moot Court National Team, and was an editor for the San Diego International Law Journal.
