Torri Sherlin ’16 (JD) Recognized with Daily Journal’s 2020 California Lawyer of the Year Award

SAN DIEGO (October 22, 2020) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumna Torri Sherlin, ’16 (JD), has been named a 2020 California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) by the Daily Journal. The CLAY Award recognizes attorneys throughout California whose contributions have made a significant impact on the legal profession, the law, or a specific practice area.

Sherlin earned the CLAY award for her work representing public entities in the only major California wildfire settlement in 2019, where she and her teammates obtained a $360 million settlement on behalf of 23 public entities.

Sherlin works in the Environmental Litigation Group of the national law firm Baron & Budd, where she litigates complex environmental cases all over the country. Sherlin’s team represents public entities, largely local government, against large, multi-million dollar corporations. Her team has resolved $1.385 billion for public entities in wildfire claims over the past two years.

Sherlin’s current work includes representing school districts and public entities in suits against e-cigarette manufacturer JUUL for its role in creating an e-cigarette epidemic.
