SAN DIEGO (August 26, 2020) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumna Carolina Bravo-Karimi, ’08 (JD), was recently named by Profiles in Diversity Journal as one of the 2020 Women Worth Watching® in Leadership Award Recipients.

Bravo-Karimi is the first Latina Partner at Wilson Turner Kosmo LLP. Bravo-Karimi - the largest women-owned law firm in San Diego. As a member of the firm's Employment Law group, she represents employers in disputes including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour litigation. Bravo-Karimi also conducts workplace investigations, including those requiring Spanish fluency, and regularly advises employers regarding diversity initiatives and provides implicit bias, equal pay, and anti-harassment training. Bravo-Karimi was recognized as a 2019 Top Lawyer Under 40 by the Hispanic National Bar Association (HBNA).

In addressing the power of devoted mentorship, Bravo-Karimi shares, "Thanks to my multicultural upbringing, I have always had a front seat to the true power of diversity. It, therefore, makes complete sense that my greatest passion as a lawyer is to authentically and permanently diversify our profession. I sincerely believe the soundest legal decisions are made, and most innovative legal strategies executed, when a variety of voices and perspectives impact the decision-making process."

Prior to joining Wilson Turner Kosmo, Bravo-Karimi served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Louisa S Porter of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. She received her Juris Doctor degree from USD School of Law, Master of Science degree in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.

Bravo-Karimi is a 2017 Rising Star Recent Alumni Award honoree, president-elect of the Law Alumni Association Board of Directors, and co-chair of #HireUSDLaw. She is a former Faculty Advisor for the Executive Moot Court Board and Adjunct Professor for the School of Law.
