Santa Clara Public Defenders Acquit Death-Penalty Homicide; Forensic Evidence Plays Key Role

SAN DIEGO (August 20, 2020) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumnus Brody C. Burns, ’16 (JD), recently published an article for the San Diego County Bar Associations's (SDCBA) For the Record, titled "Santa Clara Public Defenders Acquit Death-Penalty Homicide; Forensic Evidence Plays Key Role." Burns shares, "It is often stated that an attorney must learn the science of their case. One cannot outsource this responsibility to someone to take the stand and educate the jury." 

Burns is a Deputy Alternate Public Defender in the San Diego County Office of the Alternate Public Defender. He is also a current Lecturer II and Advocacy Coach at USD. Burns was Editor-in-Chief of Motions, the student newspaper, when he was in law school.
