SAN DIEGO (August 10, 2020) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumna Vickie Turner ’82 (JD) is the 2020 recipient of San Diego Law Library Foundation's Bernard E. Witkin, Esq. Award for Excellence in the Practice of Law. A partner at Wilson Turner Kosmo, Turner has 38 years of experience in complex litigation matters filed against corporations, with extensive emphasis in the areas of product liability, warranty, general business litigation and class actions. She has successfully defended manufacturers, distributors and retailers in complex product liability claims throughout California, and in 12 other western states.

Turner joined the University of San Diego School of Law Board of Visitors in fall of 2007. In 2009, she was awarded the law school’s highest honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award.  Turner was also honored by USD with the 2018 Arthur C. Hughes Career Achievement Award.

Throughout her career, Turner has received numerous awards and honors, including the 2018 Woman of Dedication from the Salvation Army, Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award from the San Diego Trial Lawyer Association, Outstanding Service to the Legal Profession Award presented by the San Diego County Bar Association, Frederick Douglas Award by Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association, Women of Distinction Award from Women’s Inc., Outstanding Service Award from National Bar Association, Phenomenal Woman Award presented by San Diego County Ethnic Minority Bar Association, and Community Service Award from Sisters by Choice. She has been named as one of California’s Top 25 Outstanding Lawyers by the Daily Journal’s California Law Business. Turner was also recently named to the Chancellor's Community Advisory Board at the University of California, San Diego.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Bernard E. Witkin Awards this year, the Witkin Awards are presented annually to honor members of the San Diego legal community for civic leadership and excellence in education, public service, practice and adjudication of the law.
