Professor Orly Lobel Referenced in The Legal Intelligencer about Noncompetes in a Post-COVID19 World

SAN DIEGO (April 28, 2020) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Warren Distinguished Professor of Law Orly Lobel, a nationally recognized expert on workplace competition, was referenced April 23, in The Legal Intelligencer article "Reflections on the Enforceability of Noncompetes in a Post-COVID-19 World" about her comments at Federal Trade Commission (FTC) hearing. 

Orly Lobel, director of the employment and labor law program, commented at the hearing about options other than noncompetes to protect legitimate business interests, such as trade secrets. She noted that California is a hotbed of trade secret litigation, even though noncompetes are unenforceable here, thus creating a different kind of deterrent effect on employees moving to competitors and starting a competing venture using former trade secrets in their new employment
