Professor Dov Fox Quoted in The New York Times and CNN

Professor Dov Fox

SAN DIEGO (August 29, 2019) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Professor and Director of the Center for Health Law Policy & Bioethics, Dov Fox, was quoted in the Monday, August 26 New York Times article, “Their Mothers Chose Donor Sperm. The Doctors Used Their Own.”

“In the past, patients had little reason to suspect fertility doctors to whom they had entrusted one of medicine’s most intimate tasks,” said Dov Fox, a USD Professor of Law and the author of “Birth Rights and Wrongs.” The book looks at reproductive technology advances and how those have resulted in legal issues without clear remedies.

“In a word, gross,” he said of the cases. “In a couple more: shocking, shameful. The number of doctors sounds less like a few bad apples and more like a generalized practice of deception, largely hidden until recently by a mix of low-tech and high stigma.”
