SAN DIEGO (September 28, 2018) – The San Diego Law Library Foundation has named University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Alumnus David S. Casey, Jr., ’74 (JD), as the recipient of the prestigious Witkin Award for Excellence in the Practice of Law. The annual Bernard E. Witkin Award event is named after the legendary and iconic legal author who pioneered the Summary of California Law, among other publications. The event honors members of the San Diego legal community who have made a lasting impact on the profession.

Casey is managing partner of CaseyGerry LLP, the oldest plaintiff law firm in San Diego. He has received numerous professional awards, including more than 40 accolades from the Trial Bar Association and the “Outstanding Trial Lawyer” award from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, formerly the San Diego Trial Lawyer Association. He also received a Peacemaker Award in 2002 from the San Diego Mediation Center for his work on behalf of victims of the World Trade Center terrorist attack. He received his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and his Juris Doctor from USD School of Law.

The San Diego Law Library Foundation has also named Associate Dean, Professor of Law and USD School of Law Alumna Margaret Dalton, ’94 (JD), as a Witkin recipient for her Excellence in Legal Education. 

The event will be held on October 4, 2018, at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse.
