USD Law Appellate Moot Court National Team Members Win First Place at Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition West Regional

San Francisco (February 6, 2016) – Two members of the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law’s Appellate Moot Court National Team, Alina Litoshyk and Emily Reber, won first place at the 25th Annual Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, West Regional. The regional competition was held February 6, 2016 at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. With their first place finish, Litoshyk and Reber advance to the National Finals to be held in Washington, D.C., March 12, 2016.

The competition introduces law students to important issues arising in U.S. trademark and unfair competition law. Students develop their brief writing and oral advocacy skills in a mock courtroom experience. The competition is open to teams of students from U.S. accredited law schools. Approximately 80 teams of law students participate in the competition each year. This year's problem addressed issues concerning trademark infringement and cancellation of a registered mark.

Reber is currently a 2L student interested in pursuing a career in criminal prosecution. She received her bachelor of arts in history in 2014 from the University of the Pacific. She also minored in pre law.
