The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) continues to play a critical role in serving and providing a hub for USD’s international student and scholar community, especially in these unprecedented times. As the university navigates the uncertainties posed by COVID-19, OISS has provided valuable support in helping shape its timely response, as well as ensuring that international students and scholars are kept informed on critical immigration policy changes as they make crucial decisions regarding the Fall 2020 semester.  OISS also continues to assist the university in its efforts to keep our international students engaged in our virtual format and connected to their peers and any needed resources on campus.

This fall 2020 semester, USD welcomed 37 first-year students (30 attending from abroad), 34 undergraduate transfer students (18 attending from abroad), and 52 new graduate students (26 attending from abroad). All 20 exchange students (undergraduate and graduate) are participating from abroad. Currently, about 60% of USD’s international student population, new and continuing students, are attending fall semester from their home country.
