Norm Miller, PhD, and Jeremy Gabe, PhD, are 2019 ARES Manuscript Prize Winners

The University of San Diego School of Business and the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate congratulates Norm Miller, PhD, Hahn Chair of Real Estate Finance, and Jeremy Gabe, PhD, assistant professor of real estate, for being selected as 2019 ARES manuscript prize winners. Only 22 prizes were awarded for best papers. 

Miller’s paper “The Impact of Waterfront Location on Residential Home Values Considering Flood Risks,” is recognized in the ARES category “Sustainable Real Estate.” Miller authored the paper with Gabe and Michael Sklarz, PhD, president and CEO of Collateral Analytics. The prize for this category was sponsored by the NAIOP Research Foundation.

Gabe’s paper “An Exploration of U.S. Senior Housing,” is recognized in the ARES category “Seniors Housing.” He authored the paper with Spenser Robinson, PhD, associate professor and director of real estate at Central Michigan University College of Business Administration, and Drew Sanderford, PhD, assistant professor of real estate development and planning at the University of Arizona Institute of the Environment. This prize for this category was sponsored by the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing and Care (NIC).

Both Miller and Gabe are in the process of revising their respective papers for submission to additional real estate journals. Final revisions will be available for public review in early 2020.
