Torero Student-Athletes Record 95 Percent Graduation Success Rate
Bolstered by 10 teams with perfect scores, USD checks in at five percent higher than the national average
University of San Diego (USD) Athletics ranks among the nation's best with a 95 percent Graduation Success Rate, the NCAA announced in its annual GSR report last week.
USD's mark of 95 percent was five percent higher than the NCAA's national Division I average for this year's reporting range, which was 90 percent. 2024 is the second consecutive year in which USD reported a 95 GSR, thanks to all of its sports being at or above the national GSR average during the most recent reporting period.
The Graduation Success Rate measures graduation rates for student-athletes by team. It considers student-athletes who are on scholarship their first year and who graduate from their respective universities or leave their programs, via transfer to other universities or for professional opportunities, while in good academic standing.
Ten of USD's 17 programs reported a perfect 100 percent GSR in the most recent reporting period, including men's basketball, men's cross country/track, men's golf, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's cross country and track, women's soccer, softball, and women's volleyball.
"We are so proud and excited about this record-breaking Graduate Success Rate number for our Torero Scholar-Athletes," said Kimya Massey, USD Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Athletics. "This is a testament to the quality of students we recruit as well as the academic support they are provided by our academic support staff and our incredible faculty. We pride ourselves on being excellent in everything we do, and this is a perfect example of us doing just that."
