This is your USD News Minute.
Congratulations to President Harris for earning the number one spot nationally among sitting presidents in a new report compiled by the American Enterprise Institute. The ranking evaluated campus leaders on their ability to keep tuition affordable, improve student success, and expand access for historically underrepresented student groups.
Also taking the lead this weekend is the USD men’s soccer team currently ranked 8th in the nation. They took on Oregon State and came out on top. The Toreros are the back-to-back West Coast Conference champions and are seeking a third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament this fall.
Last week, USD celebrated 20 years of the McNair Scholars Program on campus, with McNair Day. There was a luncheon featuring alumni speakers and current McNair Scholars. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of education and recipients are USD undergraduates who are committed to pursuing a PhD or research-intensive graduate degree.
Tomorrow don’t miss a traditional Diwali festival celebration in the ministry Center at 6 pm. And walk over to the center for health and wellness to see a Dia de los Muertos Ofrenda honoring lives lost to domestic violence. Other altars will also be set up around campus.
As always, thank you for watching and we’ll see you next week.
