USD School of Law Adjunct Professor Elizabeth Bui Named CEO at Yulex
SAN DIEGO (November 13, 2023) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Adjunct Professor Elizabeth Bui JD, PhD., has been named chief executive officer at Yulex LLC.
Yulex produces the only commercially available certified pure natural rubber materials to enable brands to create high performing and environmentally sustainable, deforestation-free products on land and in the water. Yulex provides materials to leading brands such as Patagonia, Gap, and Billabong.
Bui joined Yulex in January 2022 as chief business officer. She has more than two decades of leadership experience in diverse areas including corporate development, intellectual property and licensing, research and development and diversity and inclusion, according to a company news release.
She previously served as vice president and intellectual property counsel of Viacyte, Inc., and as an associate at DLA Piper in the areas of intellectual property management and protection, especially in life sciences. During law school, she was an entrepreneurship and technology law fellow and worked as an employee of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP.
Bui has been named one of San Diego Metro Magazine’s “40 Under 40” and has twice been nominated for the Athena Pinnacle Life Science Award.
A former Vietnam War refugee, Bui has spent more than three decades engaged in community-impact work and environmental activism, serving on numerous boards, women’s symposiums, and mentorship programs.
Bui received her bachelor of science from Tulane University (‘91); master of science (‘93) and Doctor of Philosophy (‘97) from the University of California, Los Angeles; and juris doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law (‘04).
