USD “Alumni WORKS” Event Highlights Art from USD Alumni at Copley Library

Copley 1

Copley Library and USD Alumni Relations are hosting their first Alumni WORKS 2022 event on Thursday, December 1 to showcase art pieces from USD alumni. 14 alumni artists, trained by USD art faculty, currently have their art on display at the university library in a special exhibition on both floors of Copley Library.

During the USD Alumni WORKS reception, guests can connect with some of the artists, including artist and USD alumna Nami Kozu-Satow, who donated one of her $20,000 paintings to the University. Nami will be speaking at the event.

“We noticed students like artwork and we want to have exhibits in Copley Library that show local and national artwork that plays a part in student’s lives and has a DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) emphasis where students can see themselves in the art throughout the building,” said Dr. Theresa S. Byrd, Dean of the University Library.

Join the reception to learn more about Copley Library’s Art Collection initiative and gift opportunities.

“When people think of Copley Library, I want them to think of art – specifically a library with interesting art on the walls. Some universities have art pieces and even museums. We want to be known for having a level of artwork that is unique to USD and provides a sense of belonging for our students,” said Dean Byrd.

The alumni art exhibition will be on display through December 16. Registration for the free event can be made here.
