Hispanic Heritage Month: Claudia Iracema Gonzales

Claudia Iracema Gonzales is the director of international engagement and alumni outreach at the University of San Diego.

Claudia serves as USD’s primary point of contact in University Advancement for alumni, parents and friends of the university who are living and working abroad. She is also a double USD alumna who saw the opportunity during the COVID-19 pandemic to reach out to the Torero community through the creation of the Tiny Toreros Story Time Podcast. Each week, Claudia selects a new children’s book to read, some in English, some in Spanish, sometimes bilingual. The purpose of the podcast is to reach out to our alumni and friends in a way that engages the family as a whole and highlights the importance of being bilingual. In recognition of the podcast’s bilingual efforts, it was named one of the best podcasts for kids and pre-teens by Discover Pods (January 2021). The podcast is listened to in over 50 countries around the world. To learn more about the podcast, visit bit.ly/wearetinytoreros
