This is your USD News Minute.

All week long, we’re celebrating the hard work and research done on campus during Research Week. This annual, campus wide virtual event is designed to showcase the diversity of research, scholarship, and creative activities at USD -- visit their website to learn more about all the important research being done on and off campus.

One of those projects comes from DNP student, Alyssa Plisic, who looked at the pandemic’s impact in decreasing physical activity levels in kids. This research earned her the "Adolescent Healthcare Practice Innovation Poster Award" from the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

And speaking of research, Assistant Professor Dr. Marni LaFleur and a team of researchers diagnosed a human variant of tuberculosis in an illegally wild-captured ring-tailed lemur which was most likely in close contact with a human. The research was published on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Emerging Infectious Diseases site, you can learn more in the News Center.

As always, thank you for watching. We'll see you next week.
