Christopher Adler's first compact disc dedicated entirely to contemporary music for the khaen has been released on Bandcamp. Dr. Adler writes, "this project has been 25 years in the making, because it was that along ago that I first began exploring the amazing free-reed mouth organ of Laos and Northeast Thailand. First I focused on learning traditional playing, and not long after that I began composing original works for the instrument. And after that, I began inviting other composers to write for the instrument. Now my repertoire includes 34 pieces by 13 different composers from across the U.S. and Asia.  The works of these composers demonstrate the versatility and beauty of the instrument, and the depth and originality of each of their voices.
