Originally from Uganda, Womaniala Gerald spent three years surviving the harsh conditions of a refugee camp in Kenya before his arrival in San Diego in 2007. Now, the USD alumnus is the founder and executive director of Echoes of Faith, a nonprofit helping refugees like himself successfully adjust to life in the U.S.
