35th International Expo and Fashion Show on Instagram, April 6-8

International Expo and Fashion Show on InstagramThe 35th USD International Expo and Fashion Show will take place as a three-day Instagram story, April 6-8 at the handle, @usdoiss

The International Expo and Fashion Show is a traditional spring event that brings together the University of San Diego campus community. This year, the 35th edition, will again be a fun experience, just presented differently due to the necessity caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The major difference from the previous 34 is that this year's event will take place April 6, 7 and 8 and it will be celebrated as content shown on each of the three days on the Office of International Students and Scholars' Instagram handle, @usdoiss.

Alyssa Irizarry, associate director for international student engagement, said the event will be divided into different regions of the world having a spotlighted day with photos and video clips sent in by current students and USD international alumni.

The April 6 Instagram story will highlight Asian countries; April 7 will be represented by European countries; and April 8 will feature Africa, Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) and The Americas.

USD students and alumni from around the world can submit up to three photos or a short video clip by Thursday, April 2 (5 p.m. Pacific). Recognizing that "home" may be different from the primary country of citizenship, students can represent the country (or countries) of their choice. This is a family-friendly event, so students and alumni can submit a photo with their partner and/or children. Email internationaloffice@sandiego.edu

Here is how students and alumni can participate:

• Submit a photo of your favorite home cuisine, a photo of you in traditional clothing, or a photo that includes a favorite location in your home country! You can submit up to THREE photos.

• Do you have a musical talent you'd like to share at the virtual expo? DM us a video clip to our Instagram account @USDOISS or email us at internationaloffice@sandiego.edu and we can share. Provide a brief explanation of the music.

• Is there a fun fact you'd like to share about your country? (e.g. popular cultural phenomenon, etc.)? Let us know and we'll add it in.
