This is your USD News Minute.

In celebration of Black History Month former NPR journalist and author, Michele Norris will be at USD on February 24 to share her experience with race, culture and communication. Leading up to this event, USD professors Cory Gooding and Channon Miller will be at the San Diego Public Library to discuss Michele Norris’ memoir “The Grace of Silence.” This will take place February 20. For more information on the Copley Library sponsored events visit the News Center.

Speaking of community involvement, the Mulvaney Center has lots to celebrate. Maria Silva was awarded the Richard E. Cone Award for Emerging Leaders and Chris Nayve was awarded the National Nadinne Cruz Award for his efforts in the community. Congratulations to both.

And finally, USD is excited to welcome back students from our STEMWoW summer camps. Students from the Chula Vista Elementary School District will return to campus this weekend to engage  in rigorous hands-on STEM activities, all part of a National Science Foundation Grant.

Thank you for watching, we’ll see you next week.
