Hey, happy 2020! I’m Lissette Martinez and this is your USD News Minute.

USD celebrated the progress on the new Learning Commons building. At the “Topping Off” ceremony, students and employees had the opportunity to plant their signature on the final beam, which was then hoisted into place by a crane. On track to finish later this year, the Commons will provide 24-hour study spaces, flexible classrooms, and coffee and snack services.

For those in the area over break, you won’t want to miss the men’s basketball team taking on Gonzaga in the Jenny Craig Pavilion this Thursday. USD alumni are invited to a special pre-game party... you can find more information on the alumni website. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. Go Toreros!

And if you missed USD’s special exhibition of Italian renaissance art depicting the life of Christ, you’re in luck. USD has just released a 28-minute video tour with Prof. John Murphy covering all the highlights from the exhibition, including a rare work by Michelangelo.

Thank you for watching, enjoy your week!
