Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Easter Schedule for The Immaculata, Founders Chapel

Stations of the CrossHoly Days and special liturgies, events and Masses will take place at The Immaculata and some at Founders Chapel this week.

The Immaculata Church on the campus of the University of San Diego will observe Holy Days and have special liturgies leading up to Easter Sunday on April 21.

On Friday, April 12, The Immaculata hosts the Lenten Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. It will be preceded by Lenten supper at 6 p.m. in Madonna Hall.

There will be multiple observations for Palm Sunday, first with a vigil on Saturday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m. and Masses at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 14.

There will be a Holy Thursday Mass and Adoration on April 18 at 7 p.m.

On Good Friday, April 19, while the university is closed in observance of Good Friday, The Immaculata will conduct the Outdoor Stations at noon and at 7 p.m. Our Lord’s Passion and Veneration of the Cross.

Easter Vigil will take place with an 8 p.m. Mass on Saturday, April 20.

Easter Sunday will be celebrated with three Masses at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Founders Chapel Holy Week/Easter Schedule

The University of San Diego’s Founders Chapel will have two Masses — at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. — on Sunday, April 14 to mark Palm Sunday.

Daily Mass takes place at 12:15 p.m. this coming Monday through Thursday.

On Wednesday, April 17, the Daily Mass at 12:15 p.m. will be part of a “Building a More Inclusive Campus,” Mass and Celebration. Following Mass, the campus community is welcome to gather at the Plaza de Colachis for a reception from 1:30-2:30 p.m. to celebrate changes to building names and spaces at the university announced earlier this month by USD President James T. Harris III.

Also on April 17, the Stations of the Cross will take place at 8 p.m., followed by the Mass for Peace at 9 p.m.

In observance of Good Friday on April 19, the university is closed and the usual Daily Mass in Founders will not take place (see The Immaculata schedule above).

There will not be Easter Masses Sunday night, April 21, due to students being on Easter break through Monday, April 22.
