Ron Fowler, San Diego Padres Executive And Chairman Of University Of San Diego Board Of Trustees To Deliver Commencement Address

San Diego Padres Executive Chairman and Co-Owner Ron Fowler will deliver the Commencement address at the University of San Diego College of Arts and Sciences Ceremony, Sunday, May 22, 9 a.m., Dean Noelle Norton announced today.

“We are pleased to announce that Mr. Ron Fowler, Chairman of the University of San Diego’s board of trustees, has agreed to deliver the Commencement address to the College of Arts and Sciences Class of 2016. Our nearly 800 graduating seniors will benefit immensely from Mr. Fowler’s life story of hard work, perseverance, education and the pursuit of your dreams,” said Dean Norton.

Fowler joined the USD board of trustees in 1996 and was appointed board chair in 2006. Under his leadership, Chairman Fowler has served on several board committees, provided financial oversight and vision on everything from Torero athletics to academic affairs and student life.

Since 2012, Fowler has been the executive chairman and co-owner of the San Diego Padres. He is also the chairman and CEO of Liquid Investments, Inc., and principal and board member of Beer Capitol Distributing in Milwaukee, WI, and of Columbia Distributing in Oregon and Washington. Recognized as a beverage industry leader, Fowler chaired or has been a member of numerous corporate and association boards over the past 40 years.

An avid sports enthusiast, Fowler chairs the executive committee of the San Diego Hall of Champions. He was recognized as “San Diego Sports Businessman of the Year” and has been recognized many times for his leadership roles in athletics entrepreneurship and community service. In 2012, USD broke ground on the beautiful, state-of-the-art 1,700 seat Fowler Park Baseball Stadium. Funded through a gift from Fowler and his wife, Alexis, the park is the proud home of Torero Baseball.
