BN Alumna Juju Lucena’s Work with Outpatient Therapy

Two years after graduating from USD, Juju Lucena ’19 (BA) now works as an Intake Coordinator for the Riverside Community Care Outpatient Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Riverside Community Care is a community-based non-profit organization that offers a wide range of mental health services to over 40,000 people a year in Massachusetts. As an Intake Coordinator, Juju is the first point of contact for new clients seeking outpatient therapy services. She speaks with hundreds of people looking to connect with a therapist, and hear the stories of their mental health hardships and successes. After speaking with incoming clients about their therapy goals, Juju meets weekly with her team to assign the new cases to their outpatient therapists.

During her time at USD, Juju was fortunate enough to be involved in multiple projects and internships that taught her about her passion for serving others in the mental health industry. She worked as an Administrative Intern for the San Diego YMCA Youth & Family Counseling Services, where she learned how important interpersonal communication and empathetic client service were to my future career goals.
