Wednesday, February 20, 2019

This is a four-week course over Summer 2019 in which students will study cryptography, the making and breaking of ciphers. The class will learn about ciphers that date back to Roman times through modern ciphers that make e-commerce possible! The course will also include several excursions around the London area in which students can relax, explore, and encounter the brilliance it took to crack wartime codes under great stress.

The course will focus on concepts from Number Theory, Group Theory, Probability, Statistics, and Information Theory. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, February 20. Prerequisites include Math 250, or Math 160, or permission from the instructor!
