Knauss School of Business Hosts Industry Conferences

The Knauss School’s new building is already stimulating industry connections through multiple conferences hosted last month. The Supply Chain Management Institute’s Fall Forum returned to an in person format on Oct. 20. The Forum invites supply chain professionals and students to hear industry leaders speak about supply chain trends and best practices, with this year’s conference focusing on transparency and visibility.

The Knauss School of Business was also a proud sponsor and host of the American Marketing Association-San Diego’s annual conference and San Diego Startup Week. The AMA conference, The Art of Marketing, took place on October 21 with support from Marketing Department Chair, Justine Farrell. Day 3 of San Diego Startup Week was held in the school’s Free Enterprise Institute on October 26. Vuori Founding CEO and USD alum, Joe Kudla, was a featured panelist along with other high profile San Diego entrepreneurs.

Marketing Students Excel in National College Competitions

Seven marketing students participated in the American Marketing Association Collegiate Summit’s case competition where they were tasked with raising awareness and product engagement for Gerber Life Insurance Company. USD’s students won the top 3 awards with Ximena Moreno Jose and Molly Delach taking first place. Marketing student Arista Andrews represented USD at the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition where she advanced to the semi-finals round. 

Student Mediation Team Takes Home Multiple Awards

USD’s Mediation Team, composed of three undergraduate business students, competed in the 2022 International Intercollegiate Mock Mediation Championship Tournament at Principia College in Illinois. The team performed exceptionally well and received several awards including 2nd place in Team Advocacy, 3rd place in Individual Advocacy and Best in Spirit, a recognition voted on by all participating students. 

Ahlers Centers Organizes Leadership Program for Italian Natural Gas Company

A team of 15 executives and key leaders from Italgas visited the University of San Diego in October for a weeklong program organized by the Ahlers Center for International Business. Italgas is an Italian company that specializes in the distribution of natural gas and visited USD to learn about innovation and design-driven strategies for competitive differentiation. The group attended five workshops led by Knauss School of Business professors, the Supply Chain Management Institute's Fall Forum conference at USD, and company visits to Sempra and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
