Welcome back to the Fall 2020 semester!

This has been an unprecedented summer for all of us. We trust that you and your families have been safe from COVID-19 and that you are ready to get the Fall 2020 semester underway. We are here to help you. We know that this “new normal” may present some challenges and fears for you, but we also know that USD students are ambitious and resilient changemakers.

The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate (BMC) team and real estate faculty encourage you to take advantage of the many services we offer to help you achieve your full potential. Over the summer, we offered a vast number of virtual events to connect students with industry leaders. These events covered important topics related to real estate, business and your well-being. We hope that you were able to partake in those events. We will continue to offer events during the fall semester and during the winter Intersession. Stay tuned for more information on those upcoming BMC events.

If you are not already a member of the USD student-run Real Estate Society (RES), you will want to sign up right away to reap the rewards. The new 2020-21 RES committee is planning several real estate events that you will not want to miss. These RES events are included in the events section of this newsletter.

As we dive into the fall semester, you will have opportunities to take part in our mentorship program (for both undergraduate and graduate real estate students, get involved in the undergraduate Real Estate Society (RES), attend additional virtual conferences and apply for a vast number of real estate scholarships available through the BMC.

If you are considering real estate as a major or minor, have questions about real estate career opportunities, or if you have not yet taken advantage of the wealth of resources that our BMC team offers, now is your chance to do so!

Jackie Greulich ’85, associate director of real estate student and career services, is available to meet with you to navigate your real estate career options,  review your resume,  offer career tips, assign you with a mentor, or schedule a McQuaig assessment to help you determine which area of real estate you are more apt to excel in. Jackie has vast expertise in HR within the real estate industry and is eager to help you. View Jackie’s calendar to schedule a Zoom meeting with her.

Joe Bertocchini ‘01, alumni and scholarship services manager, is available to assist you with any questions related to real estate scholarships offered through the BMC or our external partnerships. We encourage you to apply early for the fall scholarships and take advantage of these funds made available to support you. As our liaison with USD real estate alumni, Joe will also work closely with Jackie to help connect you with key alumni to help you build your real estate contacts.

With the COVID-19 pandemic and CDC guidelines changing by the week in California and within San Diego County, we must all remain optimistic, flexible and resilient. We want you to know that we are here to support you during these uncertain times to ensure that you have a successful academic year. Please let us know what we can do to help support you. Our “virtual” doors are open.
