USD School of Business transfer student and accounting major, Carolyn Doty, shares how she tackles life as both a busy mom and hard-working student -- with gratitude.

"I transferred to the USD School of Business this past fall from San Diego Mesa College. Since arriving, I have been overwhelmingly satisfied with my experience. The classes are challenging, but personal. The professors exhibit a true passion for their work and for their students’ success. The campus is beautiful (obviously) and I love spending my time here. The accounting program, specifically, has been supportive from the start. I joined Beta Alpha Psi as a candidate and have attended numerous events which have greatly influenced my educational and career path. Recruitment is already underway; I’m currently in the process of securing an internship for next summer at a public accounting firm. The opportunities here seem endless, and I couldn’t imagine what life might be like without USD as my educational institution. When I’m not on campus, I’m at home with my family! My husband and I have a two-year-old, who keeps me busier than school does, but is the light of my life. He loves USD too, but mostly because when he comes to campus he gets to ride the “bus” and tries to go in all the fountains! Whether I’m on campus with my son, or here for class, one thing is constant: the gratitude and pride I have for this university. I am honored to be a part of the USD student body and to call myself a Torero!" - Carolyn Doty, Accounting '20
