Spring Orientation

We know this may not be your first time on a college campus. We know you are joining us with a story of your own. Your Torero experience will be different from what you’ve seen, heard, and done before, so we want to give you the tools to make the most of that experience. Wherever you are coming from, regardless of the reason you are here, we are glad you are starting this journey with us.

All new spring students are required to participate in Spring Orientation. Our goal is for you to:

Prepare for classes

You will prepare for classes by learning about academic requirements and opportunities from administrators, faculty, and continuing students.

Meet your community

You will meet other new students and the student leaders, faculty, and staff who are here to support you, this semester and beyond.

Connect with resources

You will receive information about essential resources, and have a chance to connect with representatives from around campus to ensure you have a great start at USD.

If you are an international student, you will also need to participate in International Orientation. Make sure to visit the International Students and Scholars page for more information on International Orientation.

2021 Spring Orientation Schedule

For part 1 of Spring Orientation, you will access an online platform called the Torero Ambassador Network. Within this platform, you will complete themed pathways to guide your learning - You and Campus Resources, You and Connection, and You and Academics. Keep an eye on your USD email to learn how to access the Torero Ambassador Network!

Part 2 of Spring Orientation, called Opening Weekend, will take place January 22 - 24. You can expect to attend mandatory meetings and optional social events to kick off your first official week at USD. If you plan to live on campus, you'll also move in this weekend.

You are required to participate in all parts of Spring Orientation, as outlined below. If you plan to participate in Sorority Recruitment in January, please know that we've worked with Fraternity and Sorority Life to coordinate both schedules. Please email orientation@sandiego.edu and fsl@sandiego.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

  • Part 1 - Transfer Student Schedule
  • Part 1 - First-Year Student Schedule
  • Part 2 - Opening Weekend (January 22 - 24)

If you have questions about orientation, email orientation@sandiego.edu

If you are a student with a documented disability who may require a specific accommodation, please contact the Disability and Learning Difference Resource Center (DLDRC) prior to your arrival on campus. Formally registering with the DLDRC will allow USD to work with you to provide appropriate accommodations. For information on disability accommodations, please visit the DLDRC website or contact a DLDRC professional (email: disabilityservices@sandiego.edu, phone: 619-260-4655).
