Title: "Gratitude and Generosity: The First Principle and Foundation in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola"

Speaker: Boom Martinez, SJ

For over 500 years, the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, have unfolded a dynamic process of prayer, meditation, and self-awareness. The basic thrust of the Exercises is to make us more attentive to God's activity in our world and more responsive to what God is calling us to do. Fr. Martinez invites us to consider the basis of these Exercises, which focus on our gratitude for God's love and the generosity with which we respond to that love.

Fr. Boom Martinez joined the Jesuits in 1991 and has been a spiritual director, retreat facilitator and high school president as well as coordinated outreach efforts with Jesuit Refugee Services in Beirut. He currently serves as the Director of the Newman Center Catholic Community at UCSD.
