Date and Time:
Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Dear USD Law School Community:
THE THIRD ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BRAINS is coming, though not as soon as originally planned. Due to scheduling conflicts and in order to increase the likelihood of receiving federal bailout money, the date of the final round of the Battle of the Brains 3.0 has changed.
On Tuesday APRIL 7, 2009, six brave students, after emerging victorious from the most heavily contested preliminary round in the B.O.B's history, will face off at the INSTITUTE OF PEACE AND JUSTICE (IPJ Auditorium), all for the opportunity to take on the USD Law Faculty in a tie-breaking face-off. Like the Spartans at Thermopylae, the students will be standing their ground, shoulder to shoulder, defending the five foot trophy that they believe is rightfully theirs! Last year the students took the title from the defending Faculty champions from B.O.B. 1.0, and this year, we'll see who can truly claim to be the best and brightest Brains of USD Law.
In case your subconscious mind has suppressed your memory of that most glorious beat-down that was Battle of the Brains 2.0, B.O.B. is the law school's most thrilling fundraiser, pitting the sharpest USD law students against the brightest and most popular professors at USD in a live contest of general trivia. Sponsored by the Diversity Committee, this contest raises much-needed funds for the USD School of Law Legal Clinics.
The tested knowledge may be trivial, but the prize is not. The last team standing will have their names chiseled into the tomes of USD history. Whether you sympathize with the mighty faculty or with the unwavering students, everyone is welcome to join the Diversity Committee at the Institute of Peace and Justice for an early evening of food, graduate beverages, laughs, and entertainment. All audience members will also have the opportunity to join in a battle of their own and win a prize in the individual round!

WHAT: THE THIRD ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BRAINS
WHERE: The Institute of Peace and Justice Auditorium, University of San Diego
WHEN: Tuesday, April 7, 2009; 5:00 - Reception; 6:00 - The Final Battle
WHY: Because trivia never felt so good! (Did we mention the free food, refreshments, entertainment, and opportunity to win prizes?)
TEAM RAMROD: Greg Sperla (1L), Sam Brown (1L), Krystle "Danger" Berkstresser (1L).
A MEXICAN, A TEXICAN, AND A GUY FROM JERSEY WALK INTO A BAR . . .: Jake Romero (3L), Todd Headden (3L), Ed Newlands (3L). * Unfortunately, one of the student teams chosen in November -- The Concubines of the Literati -- was deemed ineligible because one of their team members has chosen to pursue an education elsewhere.
Six Special USD Law School Faculty members (Announcements to be made in the coming months!)
Even in the midst of studying everyone needs to eat and relax. Professor Semitsu will be serving as our Master of Ceremonies, and his off-hand comments will be even loopier than usual, as he should be suffering from the kind of sleep deprivation that only a newborn baby can cause.
We look forward to seeing you! All funds raised will go to the USD Legal Clinics.
