Areas of Expertise
Professor Ulfbeck teaches and writes in the areas of contracts, torts and the law of transportation.
Ulfbeck is a professor of private law at the University of Copenhagen where she is also the director of the Centre for Enterprise Liability. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and at the University of San Diego. Ulfbeck has also taught at the University of Copenhagen in Oslo and in Reykjavik. Before joining the law faculty in Copenhagen, she was employed with the Danish Justice Department.
Honors and Affiliations
Ulfbeck was awarded the Reinholdt W. Jorcks prize for excellent scholarship for her doctoral thesis Privity of Contracts. In San Diego and in China, she has been engaged in the European Study Group on a civil code and works closely together with the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL), Vienna, Austria, where she is a fellow. Ulfbeck is also a member of the board of the Danish Maritime Association and often sits on committees and serves as arbitrator in national and international arbitration cases.
Ulfbeck's publications include “Malpractice in Scandinavia” in 87 Chicago-Kent Law Review 111 (with Hartlev, and Schultz) (2012); “Contracts of Logistics under the Rotterdam Rules” in 17 Journal of International Maritime Law 219 (2011); and “Direct Actions Against the Insurer in a Maritime Setting: The European Perspective” in 2 Lloyd's Maritime & Commercial Law Quarterly 293 (2011).
