Recording Policy

A. Classroom Events 

  • Attendance is expected in all classes
    Regular attendance is necessary to satisfy law school and ABA requirements. However, Technology Services  will record classes for faculty for any educational reasons. Any make-up classes that fall outside the regular class time block may be requested for recording.
  • Procedures and Policies
    Any requests for recordings must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance of the event using the online Audio/Video Request Form. Approval policy is enforced to make sure presenter does allow and approve us to record. 
  • Religious Holidays
    Classes taking place on religious holidays are not automatically recorded. Faculty and/or students may request that a class be recorded using the normal procedures.
  • All recordings must be approved by instructor or presenter and will be forwarded the form for approval.

B. Special Events

  • Faculty, staff and student groups may request to have special events recorded when submitting their room request online and using the online Audio/Video Request Form 48 hours in advance of the event.

C. Publication of Recordings

  • Class recordings are posted and emailed to the requestor after they are edited and processed.
  • Instructors reserve the right to remove any link from class playlists or individual links at any time.
  • The recording will be edited and processed and posted online within 24-48 hours
  • All class-related recordings will be posted in an associated class playlist or individually, based on the instructor's choice.
  • The administrator of the site retains the right to add or remove links from the server at any time.
  • Unless students are notified otherwise, the postings will remain on the playlist or individually for the duration of the semester. 
  • Technology Services must be notified in advance if there is any reason for the streaming media to be posted longer than the current semester.

Teleconferencing

USD Conferencing is available for teleconferencing based on the number of participates.

  • USD Conferencing system can handle six callers and there is no charge for the service.
  • TSD can provide an analog speaker phone for the event.
  • The room and equipment must be reserved at least one week in advance of the scheduled event.

Web Casting

Two services (MediaSite and Ensemble) are available for webcasting.

  • MediaSite may either be distributed live or on demand. It will provide a separate stream for video and computer screen capture. MediaSite is available in Warren Hall and PLRC classrooms.
  • The room and equipment must be reserved (space permitting) at least one week in advance of the scheduled event.
  • Technology Services can record, edit and process recordings as well
