Maudsley Fellows Society
The Maudsley Fellows Society is a leadership giving society that is committed to enhancing the law school's national reach and reputation through gifts of $1,500 or more. This distinguished group of donors provides the cornerstone of private support to the law school, and their gifts enable the law school to maintain high standards of excellence in legal scholarship and teaching for the benefit of students and the legal community as a whole.
The Maudsley Fellows Society donors make a significant impact on the law school, not only through the impact of their gift, but also by setting an example for our current students and alumni alike. Maudsley Fellows donors are individually listed and prominently displayed in the entrance way to the law school, providing a leadership example for alumni and demonstrating to students the impact that alumni support makes on their legal education.
The Maudsley Fellows Society was created in 1992 in honor of Professor Ronald H. Maudsley (1918-1981). Born and educated in England, Professor Maudsley became a Distinguished Professor of Law at USD soon after immigrating to the United States in 1977. An admired and respected teacher and scholar, Professor Maudsley served at USD School of Law until his death in 1981.
Members of the Maudsley Fellows Society continue to pave the way for generations of graduates to become leaders in our legal and business communities.
There are a variety of ways that Maudsley Fellows donors are leading the way at USD School of Law, including:
- Providing scholarship support to attract and retain top students
- Funding capital projects to provide students with facilities that combine the latest technology with our faculty experts
- Broadening the reach of our programs like our legal clinics that provide over $3.5M in pro-bono legal services every year while also providing critical hands-on training for our students
