Application Fee
All applicants must submit a non-refundable application fee of US $250.00 for each program. Credit card payments are preferred and submitted through the StudioAbroad portal. Checks made payable to University of San Diego School of Law drawn on a U.S. bank or an international money order are accepted as well. International applicants can receive separate instructions to wire the application fee.
General Application Instructions
USD School of Law utilizes the StudioAbroad online application system for Summer Study Abroad programs. All applicants must apply using the online system. Paper applications are not available.
The StudioAbroad home page gives you 3 choices.
- If you are a USD School of Law student
- Select the first button, "I have a MySanDiego username and password"
- Click the submit button
- Follow the instructions for USD Applicants below
- If you are a non-USD law student (*Please note that we are unable to accommodate non-USD applicants in Summer 2023)
- Select the third button, "I do not have login credential to this site"
- Click the submit button
- Follow the instructions for Non-USD Applicants below
- Log in using your MySanDiego username and password.
- On the next screen, select the appropriate summer term, then click the "apply" button.
- You will be directed to your Program Application Page. The Program Application Page consists of two main components:
- Signature Documents
- You must thoroughly review and then electronically sign these documents. Please be aware that your electronic signature confirms that you have read, understand and agree to the content in each document.
- Your application will not be complete until we receive your application fee.
- Application Questionnaires
- These forms require you to input or upload requested information.
- Signature Documents
- Once you have completed all Signature Documents and Application Questionnaires, please note there is no final submit button. When all of the boxes under the "Received" column on your Program Application Page have check marks, your application is complete. You will receive an email from Graduate and International Programs confirming receipt of your complete application. Your application must be complete by the application deadline.
- Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Graduate and International Programs for assistance.
- Once you have selected the third button on the home page and clicked submit, select the "I am registered at a US institution" button and click submit.
- Fill in the requested information on the New User Form; and click the "create account" button. StudioAbroad will send you an email with your login information.
IMPORTANT: You must use the link provided in the email you receive from StudioAbroad to continue with your application. - Once you receive your temporary login information, select the second button on the StudioAbroad home page, "I have login credentials to this site that I received by email".
- Log in to StudioAbroad with the temporary login information provided in the email from StudioAbroad. You will be prompted to change your password immediately. Select a new password and click the "change" button. Be sure to write down your username and new password.
- On the next screen, select the appropriate summer term, then click the "apply" button. As a non-USD student, you will be asked to complete the Applicant Parameters page first. Fill in the requested information, then click the "save" button.
- Enter "Law" for the Major Code
- If you do not have a San Diego home phone number, enter in your cell or permanent phone number in this box
- You may leave the "Optional Parameters" questions blank
- The permanent and current address boxes are required; you will need to complete both sections, even if your current and permanent address are the same
- You may leave the "Province" box blank if it does not apply to you
- Once you have completed the Applicant Parameters page, you will be taken to your Program Application Page. The application page is comprised of two main components:
- Signature Documents

- Application Questionnaires
- These are forms which require you to input or upload requested information.
- Applicants from USD Partner Schools: As part of our agreement with your school, you are not required to upload a letter of good standing. Please check with your program contact for good standing clearance.
- Applicants from other U.S. ABA accredited and international law schools: As a non-USD student, you are required to upload a copy of your transcript and a letter of good standing from your law school in order to be eligible to participate in a USD Summer Study Abroad program. You will upload these documents under the Questionnaire, "LAW: Requirements for non-USD students."
- Signature Documents
- Once you have completed all Signature Documents and Application Questionnaires, please note there is no final submit button. When all of the boxes under the "Received" column on your Program Application Page have check marks, your application is complete. You will receive an email from Graduate and International Programs confirming receipt of your complete application. Your application must be complete by the application deadline for the program to which you are applying.
