Professor Danielsen teaches in the area of Criminal Procedure.

Professional Experience

Danielsen is a retired San Diego Superior Court Judge who was on the bench for 27 years – serving as the criminal supervising judge three times and as assistant presiding judge for two years. In 2014 and 2015, he was the presiding judge at the helm of the court’s 146 judicial officers and 1,217 employees. For most of his career, he served as faculty for the California Center for Judicial Education and Research. Danielsen worked as a civil trial lawyer prior to taking his judicial position.

Honors and Affiliations

Judge Danielsen was elected President of the California Judges Association and elected President of the American Inns of Court, Enright Inn chapter. He was elected to membership in ABOTA, the American Board of Trial Advocates in 1989. His judicial awards have come from the civil plaintiff and defense bar as well as from the criminal prosecution and defense bars. Most recently, he received the 2018 CPDA California Public Defenders Association Award for Judicial Excellence.
