Color Contrast

Accessible color contrast relies on the relationship between two or more colors. Typically, this involves the color of text on a background of a different color. Below are "tiles" using all of the USD branding colors with either white or black text on top. The color codes below each are the code for that tile's color. Use the black (#000000) or white (#FFFFFF) tile color codes for your font of choice. Make sure to pair them only with one of the other colors below. Only USD's orange can pair with both black or white text and be accessible.

To take a look at other possible pairings, you can use the WebAIM Color Contrast Checker. Input both the foreground (text) and background colors you wish to use. Make sure to press enter or tab when done inputing data into your last field to update the tool. If the word "PASS" appears next to the WCAG AA listing for the "Normal Text" category, then the combination should be accessible.
