Zoom Webinar, Large Meetings and Rooms

You may find that Zoom Meetings is limited depending on your department, room setup, capacity request or end-viewer experience. Zoom Webinars, Large Meetings or Zoom Rooms may help fulfill the gap. Email ims@sandiego.edu if you would like to request a license.

Zoom Webinars

Zoom Webinar allows you to broadcast a Zoom meeting to view-only attendees. Webinar licenses start at a capacity of 100 attendees and scale up to 10,000.

As the host or a panelist, you can share your screen, video and audio in a webinar and attendees can use the chat or question and answer options to interact with the host and panelists. 

  • Webinars can require preregistration with the option for the host to add custom registration questions. 
  • Registration can also be turned off so attendees can click a link at the time of the webinar. 
  • Webinars can be held once, recurring or the same session held multiple times.

Webinars can be used for large gatherings within or outside your organization (such as marketing webinars) and provides a professional first impression in a controlled environment. If you’re hosting an event only once, or infrequently, the webinar option offers flexibility so you have the option to purchase for one month at a time rather than an ongoing subscription.

Zoom Large Meetings

Large meetings are regular Zoom meetings with the option for more participants where everyone still meets with video, audio, screen sharing and collaboration options. Regular Zoom meetings can have up to 100 video participants and large meetings can be 100, 200, 300, and 500 video participants. 

Large meetings are best when you want everyone to feel like full participants such as internal meetings or larger classrooms. The owner or the admin of the account can add this feature for users and can be subscribed to on a monthly or annual basis.
