Campus-Wide System Outage

On Sunday, January 18, 2009, at 9:00 p.m., ITS will begin shutting down all USD systems in preparation for a major power upgrade and cutover in the two main computer rooms. This upgrade will be completed during the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 19, 2009.

Beginning at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, all core systems will be shut down. These systems include the following:

  • Oracle eBusiness Suite
  • Cognos
  • R25
  • DARS
  • Network Shares
  • Storage

Beginning on Monday, January 19 at 12:01 a.m. the following systems will be shut down:

  • MySanDiego Portal
  • WebCT
  • Library

At 3:00 a.m. the following systems will be shut down:

  • Email
  • VPN
  • Internet

At 4:00 a.m. all power to the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice will be turned off for the duration of this upgrade and cutover. All access to University systems, including email and both wired and wireless internet access across campus will be unavailable during this time. University systems will also be inaccessible from off campus during this time.

Beginning at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, systems will be brought back on line as quickly as possible. We estimate that power will be restored and all systems will be on line by approximately 6:00 p.m.
