Most primary care examinations are free of charge through the collection of the Student Wellness Fee. There is no co-pay, no deductible. Reasonable fees are charged for prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.

All students who paid the Student Wellness Fee are eligible.

Fees are also collected for laboratory tests, procedures, treatments, specialty care services.  These fees are minimal through the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).

Payment: Payment is due at the time of service check, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express or CampusCash. No cash accepted.

Insurance Coverage: Students are strongly encouraged to have medical insurance to cover at least medical emergencies. The Student Wellness Fee is not insurance and different from the USD Student Health Insurance Plan premium. Aetna Student Insurance Billing: The Student Health Center bills the Student Health Insurance Plan provided by Aetna on behalf of students who purchased the policy through the University.  Students who are seen at the Student Health Center can receive a referral to reduce out-of-pocket costs and have their in-network deductible is waived.

Other Insurance Billing: The Student Health Center does not bill third party insurance companies. Some fees may be partially or fully reimbursed by your insurance. Obtain a receipt at check-out in order to submit out-of-pocket expenses to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.

Third-party services: All charges for services provided outside of the SHC, such as emergency or urgent care, referred specialist, radiology imaging, and outside lab testing are the responsibility of the student.

Low-cost clinics: A number of low-cost area clinics are available for medical services.
