What is the Torero Regional Rally?

Torero Regional Rally is a USD Regional Alumni Chapter-based campaign to foster Torero pride, student scholarships, and alumni giving.

The goal is for each of the USD Regional Alumni Chapters to achieve a 15% participation rate for donations and gifts to USD. Every gift counts! In terms of participation, a gift of $20 counts the same as a gift of $2,000!

This year, we've divided the regions into three groups based upon the number of alumni living there: small, medium, and large. The region with the highest alumni participation percentage will win a scholarship for a current USD student from their region!

Why is it important?

Alumni participation is critical for a number of reasons:

  • Giving provides an opportunity for alumni to express gratitude and say “thanks” for their USD experiences.
  • Funds received from alumni donations are a crucial source of financial aid for students.
  • Donating to USD helps our university maintain its standard of excellence by allowing it to attract and retain the best and brightest students, faculty, and staff, as well as build and maintain state-of-the-art campus facilities.
  • Alumni donations factor into USD's national ranking.

What do you get out of it?

Torero Clubs will compete with one another, as they rally support.

Each club that reaches 15% alumni participation will be recognized in the USD magazine for their success and will also receive a happy hour celebration for their chapter's leadership at USD.

The Torero Clubs with the highest percentage of alumni giving in the small, medium, and large groups will receive:

  • A $2,000 Alumni Endowed Scholarship, to be awarded to a current USD student from the winning region, with the student recipient selected by that region.
  • A celebration within your region in honor of the winning chapter’s achievement, where alumni, parents, students, and friends can gather in acknowledgment of their success.

When is the deadline?

Competition among Torero Clubs will run in April-June, completing on June 30.
