Even if computers were made to be perfectly secure (they are not) and Internet companies maintained perfect security over our data (they do not), each of us would still be responsible for following good computer security practices to protect ourselves as much as we can. In this talk, Mark Heckman, PhD, from the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, will explain some of the basic good computing habits that everyone should practice on their home computers, tablets, and phones.

Bridges Academy is a continuing education program hosted by the University of San Diego Office of Planned Giving. While the lecture series is free to all participants, the Office of Planned Giving encourages the support of the Bridges Endowed Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to undergraduate students. The first Bridges scholarships awarded were for $1,000 per student. In 2019, the scholarship recipients each received $4,710. Thank you all so very much for making this possible.
