About the Exhibition Christ: Life, Death and Resurrection

On View: September 13 to December 13

Hoehn Family Galleries, Founders Hall

Over 40 original drawings and prints by Italian Renaissance artists — including Michelangelo, Fra Filippo Lippi and others — come to USD from the renowned collection of the British Museum. This marks the first time many of these works have been seen in Southern California. The display has been curated by Hugo Chapman, keeper of prints and drawings at the British Museum, together with his colleague, Sarah Vowles. Chapman is one of the world’s leading authorities on Michelangelo’s drawings and the author of many books on this subject. This exhibition has been five years in the making — it is the culmination of a series of three projects that have drawn upon the museum’s stellar collection of works on paper.
