Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2018-2019 Financial Aid award, or qualify for Federal Work-Study for the 2019-2020 academic year, to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the summer sessions and are located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the summer sessions.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience. All positions are only for Summer (June 3, 2019 to August 23, 2019), unless otherwise noted.

Academic Technology Services

Job Title: Computer Lab Assistant
Pay Rate: $12.00/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Thursday, 10:00 am – 7:00 pm; Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

  • Opening and closing lab facilities
  • Checking out and returning keys to lab facilities
  • Lab Security
  • Enforcing and observing all Academic Technology policies
  • Monitoring lab usage
  • Monitoring lab supplies (paper, toner, staples, etc.)
  • Maintaining cleanliness of lab facilities
  • Providing basic assistance for users with department supported software questions
  • Working assigned shifts through finals week
  • Attending department orientation and other training
  • Performing related departmental duties as assigned

Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice, Operations

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $12.00/hour
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-10:00 pm, min 2 hour time block

  • Assist, with supervision, daily operations of Kroc School Operations and events work area and facility including but not limited to cleaning, room setups (physical labor), organizing, changing light bulbs, printing & putting up signs, etc. as requested and directed
  • Assist with building events, as needed and directed, with supervision
  • Work reception desk; provide support including answering the telephones, returning calls, taking messages, greeting and assisting clients/visitors/guests
  • Filing, copying, faxing, scanning, making signs, collating, on-campus deliveries & errands
  • Familiar with software including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite components (Office, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher) training will be provided
  • All student assistant will be scheduled specific times to be the department telephone operator. Training and mentoring for this job will be provided
  • Kroc School Collaboration – helping with similar work (with direct supervision) in all Kroc School units is expected when required
