Details

The Kroc School's Institute for Peace and Justice is a sponsor of the Big Data & Community Policing Conference from January 10-11 of 2020. The Conference is being executed by MEASURE Austin, an Austin-based nonprofit with a mission to use data and education to empower communities to eliminate disparities, with the aim to provide San Diegans (and others visiting) with the tools to eliminate disparities in their community.

The conference, held at the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego, will feature trainings led by law enforcement, evidence-based practitioners, researchers, activists, and techies to equip San Diego residents with the skills and knowledge needed to collect, interpret, and utilize data to create actionable solutions for their communities. Panel discussions including representatives from law enforcement, technology, research and advocacy will explore community policing, what it means, what it looks like in practice, and how data can be used to inform community policing.
