The College of Arts and Sciences is hitting the road -- virtually!

Join Dean Noelle Norton and Eric Pierson, Co-Director of Film Studies and Professor of Communication Studies, as they "travel" to meet local Toreros from the Greater LA area and present on the topic of diversity, equity and inclusion as it relates to storytelling in television.

    Diversity in Television
Thursday, April 29 from 5-6 PM PST
    Zoom Room (register for link)

Dr. Pierson will examine cable and streaming services’ role in creating spaces for more diversity in storytelling. He will tackle the questions: Are these services responding out of a sense of social responsibility or are they just reflecting the realities of more fractured audiences? Will free television (the networks) ever be able to match the diversity of storytelling of paid television (cable and streaming)? What will it take for free television to change?

Dr. Pierson has spent his career exploring the ways in which television images influence and impact our daily lives. He will examine how the presentation of race, social class, gender identity, and disability have changed over the last decade and explore how these changes have impacted our understanding of the world around us.

In addition to Professor Pierson's presentation, this event will feature an update on College news and advancements from Dean Norton as well as the opportunity to network and build community with alumni from the area.

We look forward to seeing you on the road.

Special bonus- Rep your Torero Pride! All in attendance will receive a $20 gift card to the USD Torero Store.

This event is co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Los Angeles ,Orange County, and Inland Empire Torero Clubs.
